2015 Gaming Challenge

So my local library is doing a fun event called The Extreme Book Nerd Challenge. I have to pick one book for each category. So far, my progress is going smoothly. The Gamer thought this challenge would transfer well into video games, and I told him he was a genius!

These ten categories should keep you busy for the year. You keep track of your own progress. We will not be rewarding those who complete this year-long challenge. However, it’s a goal that could be fun as it incorporates your favorite hobby.

Here are the categories and the games that we have decided to play for this challenge:

  • A game from your childhood (Me: Sonic the Hedgehog 2)

  • A game with non-human characters (Me: Ratchet and Clank)

  • A game set in a different country, fictional or not (Me: Kingdom Hearts 2.5)

  • A game that scares you (We don’t have any at the moment, but we’ll get there eventually.)

  • A game you can finish in a day (Gamer: Megaman 2. Me: Costume Quest 2)

  • A game that has a color in the title (Me: Pokémon White)

  • A game that you own but have never played (Gamer: The Stanley Parable. Me: Epic Mickey The Power of 2)

  • A game that you started but never finished (Gamer: White Knight Chronicles. Me: The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword)

  • A game that made you cry. If you don’t cry, like The Gamer, one that made you really sad. (Me: Final Fantasy VII. I have never played this so no spoilers! I am dreading the tears.)

  • A game where you complete EVERYTHING. We’re talking trophies, side missions, etc. (The Gamer: Megaman X, Me : Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds)

The Rules:

  • No double-ups. One category per game and vice versa.

  • The games have to have a story. They can be as simple or as complex as you want them to be.

  • All games finished in 2015 can be counted toward this challenge.

  • Finish by the end of the year, December 31st, 2015.

Again, this is just for fun. There will be no prizes or anything like that. The Gamer and I thought it would be rather enjoyable as you work by yourself or have a few friends get involved and keep each other motivated.

I want to give big thank you to my sister and her husband for helping us come up with the categories.

Good luck and we’ll see you next week!
