As I mentioned last week, we added a PS4 to our console collection this month. We don’t have any games for it yet. However, we have downloaded some free games The Gamer received using codes. We’ve been playing some of them throughout the weeks, and I just wanted to highlight them.
Grow Home

The Gamer really enjoyed the controls on this one. I found them too particular. You try and grow a big plant and you have to maneuver around your island in order to gather materials and whatnot. It definitely had a Minecraft feel to it.
Super Meat Boy

This is fairly popular among Indie gamers (in my opinion anyway). Meat Boy has to rescue Bandage Girl from Dr. Fetus. It is not an easy task though, as each course is designed to have Meat Boy try and find his way to his gal through a series of obstacles. Its mechanics are easy but it’s almost too monotonous for me. The Gamer enjoys it though.
Rocket League

The Gamer really likes this one. Your team of cars tries to get a big ball into the opponent’s goal. If you’ve played racing games and car games before then the controls should be easy for you. Others, like me, might have difficulty in maneuverin your vehicle. The more you progress, the more you can deck out your car!
Sound Shapes

I enjoyed this one because the little Pac Man-looking guy is easy to play with and the music is very pretty. If order to move around the screen to the next level, you have to time obstacles to the music playing. It sounds easy, but trust me, it gets extremely frustrating.
Dragon Fin Soup

I haven’t played this one yet, and have only watched The Gamer play a little bit of it. From what I can tell, it's a fantasy game filled with objectives. Maybe I’ll have more to say about this one another day.
Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

From what I saw when The Gamer was playing this one, it’s far more basic than an actual Tomb Raider game. It does consist of small puzzles and other mechanics you’d see in the other games, but it’s simpler in story and objective.
Broken Age

This is a story/puzzle game that I only played for ten minutes. In order to progress in the game, you have to explore the area, talk to people, and figure out what should come next for the character. You can choose to be the girl or the boy. The concept is intriguing; I just wasn’t in the mood to figure it out when I sat down to play it.
Magicka 2

The Gamer actually had a hard time with this game at first. He kept dying lots and I was kind of shocked. “What? My Man can’t play a video game?” When it happens I just sit back and let him vent out his frustrations. He has a better handle on it now. It has a fantasy setting and bad guys come out at every corner, most of which you aren’t prepared for.
There you have it! Hopefully we can get some actual games for the PS4 soon. We really like this console. It’s an easy transition from a PS3, and we’ve enjoyed what we can play on it so far.
We’ll see you next week!
