Hello everyone, The Gamer here. The Wife has asked me to shed some light on some exciting news from this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3.

For the few of you who do not know, E3 is where a lot of different entertainment companies, such as game developers, show off their upcoming games. It is a veritable Mecca for any major gamer to have the opportunity to go there. These conventions are a big deal. They include details of games currently in development or finally ready to release. This is also where big electronics companies announce any new consoles that would be released. With that basic information behind us, here is some of the information that I am über excited for.

A disclaimer, I do not have a Play Station 4 or an Xbox One. That being said, most of the information that I was anticipating came from the Nintendo Digital event. For those who want to watch it before reading this article, click here -à (https://goo.gl/NmVlBj) !

Are you back? Well, that was great wasn’t it! I hope you enjoyed this week’s article. Wait, you were expecting MORE content? *Sigh* Alright, here is what I am excited for.

Star Fox Zero—

After skipping the Wii, Star Fox has had a bit of an upgrade. The last major Star Fox game that I played was on the N64 (which debuted the rumble pak). Star Fox 64 introduced the Land Master tank and had a great purpose in some missions. I am happy to see that they haven’t forgotten the roots of the game, because the Arwings are back. But what’s this, the Arwing can walk?! The Land Master can FLY?! Dude, that is so cool! It allows for different tactics in certain missions. It would also be really cool to play with other people. I remember spending time with my brothers playing Star Fox and dog fighting.

Anyway, this is actually the first game play footage that Nintendo has released for the game, and it looks awesome. They haven’t planned any online multiplayer, but I hope (for nostalgia sake) that there will at least be a dog fighting mode like in Star Fox 64. Miyamoto, if you are reading this? Please?

Skylanders Superchargers –

Sorry Skylanders fans, I wasn’t excited for the game. I was excited for the two amiibos that were announced. The designs for Bowser and DK were pretty cool. I *might* get just those two for the sake of having them. (Besides, I haven’t added Bowser or DK to my amiibo collection yet)

Fire Emblem Fates –

I like a good strategy game which requires intense planning so your characters don’t die. This forces to keep them alive. Fire Emblem is a series that has always scratched that itch. Fire Emblem Fates is no exception to that rule. This game looks really cool for two reasons. Number one, look at that animation in the cut scenes! Oh, so pretty! Number two, this game will allow you to branch off in two major directions. They teased this game in a previous Nintendo Direct, but didn’t really elaborate on anything. If it is anything like Fire Emblem Awakening, it will be a great game. (FYI, the Wife started playing Awakening. She is enjoying it… I think)

Xenoblade Chronicles X --

maxresdefault2.jpg

OH MY GOSH! This game looks BEAUTIFUL!

Its predecessor, Xenoblade Chronicles, was originally released on the Wii, and then later released on the New 3DS XL. I played it on the Wii, and it was a great game. To those people who are fans of JRPGs, this is a game you must play. It combines the battle system of World of Warcraft, but has a lot of quests like the Elder Scrolls series. To top it all off, the story is amazing. What held it back were the capabilities of the Wii.

With that out of the way, Xenoblade Chronicles X looks amazing. There is a huge open world that you can explore. There are huge enemies that you can fight and you can have a giant robot! (Who wouldn’t want a giant robot?) This game is already out in Japan, but they announced a stateside release date for the game. I was so excited that I tried to pre-order it after it was announced. (Unfortunately, I couldn’t, but I did the next day. FIRST ONE TO DO SO! ... at that store) Anyway, to see a date for this year really got me excited for this game.

Yoshi’s Wooly World –

maxresdefault-1-620x349.jpg

This game looks adorable. This introduces Yoshi to yarn. This reminds me of Yoshi’s Island on the SNES. But instead of throwing eggs, you throw yarn balls to knit/crochet the level to suit your needs. This also has a fun mode where you can have two players play and help/hinder each other while playing. They also allowed some amiibo functionality that allows you to tap an amiibo and have a Yoshi skin on your player. Think of Yoshi wearing Mario garb, and a tiny mustache on the huge nose.

This would be one that can be really fun to play with other people.

As I said, these were some things that I found interesting from the Digital Event, but other really great titles that just didn’t push me over the edge were announced such as:

  • The Legend of Zelda Triforce Heroes (3DS)

  • Hyrule Warriors Legends (3DS)

  • Amiibo Festival (Wii U)

  • Mario Tennis (Wii U)

  • Super Mario Maker (Wii U) – Though this one does look cool, I just wouldn’t play it much :P

And many others!

Though I wasn’t only looking forward to Nintendo announcements, they had a cool game play trailer for Kingdom Hearts 3 which looked amazing… though at the very end it said “Currently in Development”. I got a little sad. But I wasn’t nearly as devastated as the Wife.

***Psst. The Wife here. Not only was a devastated, but also I felt betrayed, hurt, and downtrodden. Why Square Enix, why?! On a happy note, I love that Tangled will be a world for the game, and the stunning gameplay which featured new moves for Sora are inspired by Disneyland/World rides. Carry on, love :) ***

ff7-remake.jpg

Another cool announcement from E3 was the much anticipated re-master for Final Fantasy VII. FFVII was originally released on the Play Station 1. It was the first Final Fantasy not to be released on a Nintendo console (that I know of) and stole the hearts of millions of gamers to this day. People have been clamoring for this remake for a long time. I’ve even heard that the story might not necessarily be the same. Who knows? But the trailer looked cool.

Whoa, well that’s a lot of writing. If you are still reading this, what did you like about E3? The Gamer , signing out. Don’t be a troll.
