Why Remake a Video Game?

Something I’ve noticed that gaming companies like to do is remake a video game. I’ve always wondered why. Here are a few thoughts.
MONEY
Let’s face it, the world revolves around those cool, crisp bills that we call currency. If the video game is popular, why not add a few new features, make it look cooler and slap on a few extra bucks for a game consumers already own?
NOSTALGIA
A lot of old-school gamer’s had to use their imagination when it came to the graphics of early video games. To us newbies, the graphics would be a big turn off. Old school gamers didn’t care because at that time, the graphics were amazing and they had to use their imagination and picture clear and clean images that the rest of us are used to seeing in today’s games.
FAN PRAISE
Unlike films and TV shows, a lot of video games are praised by fans for the new look and feel to a classic game. A lot of companies can remake the game without spending a bunch of money to make it look nice.
BETTER MECHACIS
I tip my hat to actual gamers. They can handle the touchiest games on the crappiest (even if they are awesome) hardware systems known to man. I tried to play the first Kingdom Hearts on our PS2 and I was so frustrated. I couldn’t get a hold of the game’s complex mechanics, despite it being a game more suited to kids. Shortly after, we ended up getting the remake for the PS3). I was very pleased. It was a lot easier to get to the move shortcuts and the characters were easier to maneuver with each world.

Today’s post is short. I apologize for that. I’ve been struggling with coming up with topics lately.
