Yesterday, April 1, Nintendo released at great Nintendo Direct video. We ended up watching it live this time and The Gamer’s excitement was truly entertaining.

Here are some of our favorite highlights.

Mewtwo will make his way to the Smash family on April 28. The Gamer was practically jumping for joy. Then, he almost passed out from sheer excitement when it was announced that those who preordered Mewtwo would get him earlier, on April 15! I think it’s safe to say that we will be playing more Smash again this month!

Lucas from the Earthbound series is making his comeback. He will be available for DLC this June. The Gamer, again, was very pleased with this news. Both a Mewtwo and Lucas amiibo have been planned, but no dates were announced.

New costumes for Mii Fighters on Smash will be available too. Each costs $0.75 or $1.15 depending on if you want the costumes for both the Wii U and 3DS. The costumes are a Smash Bros. T-shirt, Cat Suit, Monkey Suit, Link Outfit, Majora’s Mask, Dunban Outfit (from Xenoblade Chronicles), X’s Armor and Proto Man Armor (from Mega Man).

A Smash Bros. Ballot was announced. People can write in who they would like to have in the Smash line up. The Gamer was very pleased with this. He and some of his buddies predict that Ridley from Metroid, King K Rool from Donkey Kong and Waluigi from Mario will be amongst the big contenders. The Gamer also mentioned that Crono from Chrono Trigger would be really fun to have in the Smash line up. I’ll guess we’ll see what happens with this!

We were really intrigued when it came to the Amiibo Nintendo Tap. This will unlock gameplay highlights from certain classic Nintendo titles with each highlight lasting up to three minutes. However, titles are randomly assigned when you scan an amiibo for the first time. It will come this spring as a free download.

It’s been thirty years since Mario made its way to gaming industry. To celebrate, Nintendo will be releasing Mario Maker! You can create your own Mario levels with this new game. You can choose up to four styles from four of the Mario games. It is set to launch this September.

I think Yoshi’s Wooly World looks absolutely adorable. During the Nintendo Direct, they announced that there will be two modes to the game, classic and mellow mode. Classic is just regular game play whereas mellow gives Yoshi a set of wings to quickly glide through levels. What’s most interesting is the ability to switch from Classic to Mellow Mode at any given part of the game.

I have a new coveted item. A Yarn Yoshi Amiibo!!!!!!! It’s soooooooo cute!

Every time we hear something about Splatoon, the more we want to get it. It was announced that there will be more modes. Ranked Battle is an online feature. It’s the same as the four-on-four mode only each team is ranked based on how well they’ve done in the game. Splat zone is basically King of the Hill, something that you can play with friends. Battle Dojo is a local, one-on-one battle. The basis of the game is who can pop the highest number of balloons in each stage. You can also do a lot of practicing using this mode.

Splatoon will release Inkling amiibo alongside the May 29 launch date!

Starting this year, some N64 and Nintendo DS titles will be compatible with the Wii U. If you’ve purchased these games on a DS or 3DS system, you can transfer them to the Wii U.

Here are some indie games that we are interested in: Adventures of Pip, Don’t Starve: Giant Edition and Never Alone.

The news of Fire Emblem was extremely exciting. The customizable avatar will be featured again, only this time it will be the main character of the game! You can also choose your faction. You can either choose the path of Hoshido, (fighting the bad guys) or the path of Nohr (be the bad guys). Hoshido will be a little easier, and Nohr will be more difficult.

“DUDE!” was all I could hear from The Gamer throughout the entire trailer. The new Fire Emblem is scheduled for a 2016 release in North America.

Amiibo Cards for Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer looked interesting. The game is basically an interior design game that includes all of the animals from Animal Crossing. Each Amiibo card will give a certain mission for each animal. These cards and the game will arive this fall.

Finally, the Animal Crossing DLC for Mario Kart 8 was further explained. One course that’s inspired by Animal Crossing games is based on seasons. The season will change each time you race. The three new racers will be Isabelle, Villager and Dry Bowser. Also four new vehicles, two new racing cups and nine more mii racing suits will be available.

They also announced a 200cc racing mode. It will be the most difficult and fastest mode for the Mario Kart series to date!

Overall, this has been a big Nintendo Direct for this gaming family. What are you most excited for?

See you next week!
